The Sioux Valley Optimist Club of Sioux Falls was visited by the Sioux Falls School District Child Nutrition Supervisor, Joni Davis. She spoke to us about the School Lunch Angel Fund.
She said, “The community wanted to help make sure every child gets the nutrition he or she needs. So the Sioux Falls School District responded with the Angel Fund.”
“Currently, the way that the Angel Fund has been distributed is too apply it across the board to a large number of students, so there’s not any one family that’s getting a bigger portion than another, in terms of what the funds are that we have,” said Davis.
The Angel Fund is in its third year and with donations coming in from the community, they’ll be able to help out more families in need this school year.
“That’s a reason why it came about quite honestly, is to be thinking about what things are out there? What are ways to try to assure that students have meals available to them?” said Davis.
The Sioux Valley Optimist Club has donated $750 to the Angel Fund.
Donating is to the Angel Fund is easy. You can either give cash or write a check and drop it off at the Sioux Falls School District Central Services building. The address is 1101 N. Western Ave, Sioux Falls, SD 57104.
